Our friends at MACCOLL (Marine and Coastal Conservation of Loch Linnhe) are organising an event on Friday evening, 17 November at 7pm in Duror village hall, which will be fun, informative and help put Loch Linnhe on the marine biodiversity map!
The event will bring citizen scientist Ronnie Mackie from Kinghorn to Duror for an evening of tales of whales and other sea creatures. You will be introduced to the world of citizen science and also why it is so important to record the sightings of these fascinating sea mammals.
You will be helped with how to recognise and ID what we see around our shores, and advised how to record our sightings. You will hear of Ronnie's many years of volunteering with the Whale and Dolphin Trusts and The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust amongst others, and be introduced to shore watch.
As well as the above Ronnie is a singer and he and his band Quarrel Brae released "The Whale Song", a song he wrote about his conversation with a whale while sailing across the Atlantic (true story!).
If you are planning on going please let MACCOLL know so that refreshments can be provided - you can email them at maccolldk@gmail.com.
