Concerns over the proposed huge salmon mega-farm in Loch Linnhe, using unproven technology to hold millions of salmon in the loch, are featured in an article in The Highland Times.
Under the heading "West coast locals horrified at inevitable damage to Loch Linnhe" the article includes contributions from a number of local residents. Retired professional diver James Standley, angler David Gunn and swimmer Charlotte Parkin all express their opposition to the proposed industrial scale farm.
As David Gunn puts it, from the perspective of a fisherman with more than 60 years experience in the loch, “to go straight into something at such a huge scale is an enormous gamble in an area of outstanding natural beauty – we don’t want to be used as a test bed.”
Also covered in the article is the creation of the "Loch Linnhe Blues" protest song by local band Rough Edges, now released across global streaming services. "The song seems to have captured the imagination of our community and we hope it will act as a voice on our feelings towards this unproven fish farm proposal" says guitarist Malcolm Knowlson.
